Shortname?

When I first got my mac the dickhead in the store who set up my accounts spelled my short name incorrectly. I'm unable to change the name under my account in system preferences because it is grayed out. Does anybody know if there's a way to change it. If so I would be grateful.

I've heard on these forums that it takes a lot of changing little things to do this sort of thing. Just create a new user account, being that the computer is new and you probably don't have a large number of customized settings. Once you have the new account created (an administrative account - make sure), you can delete the existing one and the problem is solved. This seems to be the easiest way to me. Give it a day or two and see what others have to say on this forum. You can also ask specific questions about moving certain application settings once you create the new account.

Just found and tested a nifty little app called ChangeShortName (Direct download link)

Read the readme file. Also, this only seems to work in Tiger, according to the site that referred me there.
