Should I keep my systemworks for 9.2 on my computer......................

Ok here's the deal. I have Norton's systemworks on a partition on my drive and 10.3 on the other. The only reason I would use Norton's in the past was to optimize the OS X drive and fix any errors. Since I can't boot Nortons off the cd that's why I made a 1GB partition on my drive. Now since I'm running 10.3 should I keep Norton's or just get rid of it? And is Norton's going to be able to fix anything on 10.3?

Do yourself a favor and don't use Norton's on an X system. It has cause problems for a lot of people and is not 100% compatible. The tools supplied with MacOSX do a very good job of keeping the disk in good shape. There are three routines that run regularly at the wee hours of the morning. There are Cron programs that you can get at http://www.versiontracker.com that will let you schedule when they run if you shut your machine down at night.

I never shut down, and also never install utilities like Nortons. I always run off the CD. The two utilities that I would recommend to have with X are Diskwarrior and TechTool Pro when the new version of that is released.

If you do feel you want to keep it, make sure you don't run it until there is a new version of Norton Utilities/System works out because as of this moment it's not at all compatible with Panther. It will mess up the journaling that is enabled in Panther.

So far I haven't had Norton screw up my HD pre Panther days, but there are many that have..

As mentioned above, not compatible, and I know from first hand experience. I only use the Norton CD to check my files, or to optimize my partitions, I have yet to have a problem with that.
