Should I wait for G5?

The iBook only recently became G4. It will take a long time to be bumped up to a G5. It will last quite a while with OS X.
 
Most people here will ask you what you intend to do with your future computer. If it's simple stuff like word processing and web browsing go for the iBook G4, even a G3 if you can get one. For anything more demanding, the iBook G4 is fairly capable. I've got a 550Mhz G4 powerbook. It runs panther just fine, handles photoshop and dreamweaver well and never gives me any troubles. Again, it's difficult to give a definitive answer without more information. Bear in mind that Arden is right, we won't see a G5 portable for a while because of technical issues. Also, the G5 is a SERIOUS processor, aimed at demanding professional users with a price tag to match!
 
I would wait for mid-January after Apple Expo. I wouldn't wait for the perfect machine: any machine is old after 6 months.
