Should I?

Hi,

I have a pretty crappy and full of shit iMac.
It's from 2001, and it's got 128 mb RAM.
My dad bought a G4 computer and got a free Mac OS X
Installer. He doesn't want to use it. Now my question is:
Should I install mac OS X on my computer?
Or would it mess my hd up? I really don't know.
Please help me, I want it bad, but I don't know if I'd be doing
the right thing.

If it's from 2001 it can't be that slow. Just get at least 256mb more ram, and away you go.;)

note my specs in sig. it runs os x great. even at 128 it will work. upgrade your ram at all and it will work better. the more ram, the nicer it works.

how many mhz? there are people who are running os x on rev A imacs and doing ok. but there are a few programs that require 400 mhz and above. one i can think of is ViaVoice from ibm.

Yeah, 768MB RAM for me really sped things up...A LOT. I went from 128MB RAM to 768MB within a month. Boy oh boy was that sweet. Mac OS X runs better the more RAM you have. And if you leave your computer on all the time, the programs you use most will likely be cached in RAM after you quit them. Launching them again typically doesn't require hard drive access, or less of it, with significantly improved launch times.
