Simple RAM question

Hey!

I have a G5 imac (with isight), with only 512MB of RAM. I'm pretty sure that it is in one memory stick.

I'm wating to increase my memory. I think I read somewhere that it is better to have both your memory sticks the same size. Is that true?

What will I loose/gain if I get a 1 gig stick vs just another 512, and have them both beside the current 512?

I hope this makes sense. Please let me know on any thoughts that you may have.

Lastly, does anyone know of a cheap place to get memory in Canada?

Thanks!

I'd save a lil' more and get two 1 GB sticks. Find someone in a similar situation to sell the 512 MB stick to.

I saw a comparison somewhere recently that the difference between various configurations of sticks on the macbook pro is not all _that_ significant. Best is to have matched gig sticks as fryke suggests, but as the price may be an obstacle, it would be better to go with 1.5 than with 2 matched 512 sticks. Then when you have the cash, get the match to the gig
