Sleep/screensaver password protect--sign out of AIM

Hello--I have a problem concerning the "sleep" mode on my macbook pro and its interference with chat software (like AOL Instant Messenger). I would like to password protect my computer after it "wakes" from a screensaver or sleep, but it seems that whenever it goes into any power-save mode, AIM signs off. This means I cannot leave an away message up and remain signed on while I am away from my computer for long periods of time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same problem with my iChat, usually when my MBP goes to sleep mode, it just disconnect the internet.

I know Windows do this too. (MBP is my first apple product)


So im sure there is no way to maintain the internet connection while the system is in sleep mode
