slow internet speed? oximoron?

I have a Mac G4 and my roommate has a remote wireless Microsoft laptop. We are both connected to the same router that is connected to the same modem, but his internet is so much faster i.e.; page loading, downloading, etc...it there some setting I'm missing? Or maybe my computer isn't configured right? btw the router is a TRENDnet router and the modem is a Motorola from Comcast.

As for configuring your computer, then you should have nothing else to do if you use DHCP. However, you ask questions while giving absolute no information about either your roommate's computer or your computer, except the fact that it is a G4 (making it kind of old):

1. Which model computers? (Microsoft makes no laptops or desktops, for that matter.)
2. Which OS?
3. Which browser?
4. How are they configured?
5. What is the speed of the cable modem connection?
6. Which sites are you connecting to?
