slow loading web pages

This started yesterday. Web pages seem to get hung up and instead of loading in under a second, they take 5 plus seconds. I see no pattern with the types of pages. Just navigating the news in yahoo does this. My wife is on the same connection with a G5 and there is no problem.

I have cable connection, imac G4, OS X 10.4.11, safari 3.1.2 (but does same on foxfire). Checked internet frog for cable speed...seems okay.
