smart media reader/ panther problem

hi folks,

i have a (noname-) usb-reader for smartmedia cards that used to work fine until i updated to panther. now my system crashes badly (multilanguage message appears that tells you to press the power button) My filesystem already got a serious damge from such a crash.

i've bees using a driver lexar driver (Lexar USB Combo MacOS 10.1.sit) it installed a file called IOKitUsbReader in System/Library/Extensions.


Has anyone an idea what driver i could use now? May be there are other usb-drivers that can read my smartmedia?

My Reader is called FlashReader "Card Reader/Writer" Model UISA3/UIS3

I have an USB reader that does not need a driver. Delete that driver, restart the computer and see if it will work.

nope. it's one of those devices need ariver.

Couzteau, try to catch an OS9 driver and use it in classics. Might work; might not work; at least worth to give it a try.
