Smtp.macosx.com Vs Earthlink

Hi all.

I'm trying to resolve a problem that some of you might have encountered if you use Earthlink as your ISP... I have recently acquired an e-mail account through macosx.com, which I am happy with, except fot the fact that I cannot connect to the smtp server, therefore send out e-mails through my MAIL program. I contacted consumer service, (because the account cost me $12.95), and the best they coud do was throw the ball in Earthlink's court: "talk to them and see what they say..." RIGHT.
I used @mac.com prior to that, and not a problem with the smtp server there... which means that Earthlink's smtp does not discriminate.
Does anyone have a solution to that, or at least have the same problem?

Thanks.

D.

if you are using mail.app try using the "use identification while sending mail" and putting in your username and password. that might help

Thanks dude...
I actually figured it out, thanks to the nice people from tech support of macosx.com...

for anyone with a similar problem, here's what to do:
just put smtp.earthlink.net as your smtp server... works wonderfully and the recipients don't see a difference.
Best,
D.
