software update 10.4.3 different from standalone version

Hi

I usually check software update to see what new software is available like everyone else. I then download the standalone version from the apple site and store the installer file incase i need to reinstall macosx. But now the problem is on software update, the file for 10.4.3 is 56 mb only, and the standalone version on the mac website is 97mb. Is something wrong, which should i download? What is the difference?

Nope, nothing is wrong. The Software Update version if for your machine specs. The Standalone is for all machines.

would it make any difference if i installed the standalone version though?

Actually, it's better to install the Stand alone (Combo Update) than the one from Software update.
