"OR...
In the software update control panel you can select the update and go to the update menu and select "download checked updates to desktop" and walla! the update will download to your desktop."
Unfortunately, this does not always work.
I have been having much trouble getting Software Update to work in any manner, whether it is directly installing the update or downloading to desktop. I get the same message as shown above, and if I try the download to desktop method, it gets to the point where it should appear on the desktop, and then fails, and I get the same message.
This same problem is present on both of my machines running 10.2.4 : PB G3400pismo 1GB Ram and 17" 1Ghzflatpanel 1 GB Ram. I was having the problem on my PB, and I assumed I had some kind of software conflict as I've got quite a few different programs loaded on this machine. But what really got me was when the new imac did the exact same thing right out of the box! It was doing this while both machines were still running 10.2.3 as well (I updated to 10.2.4 by downloading the combo update directly from Apple's website).
How many people are experiencing this problem? Does anyone have a cure?
Also, in a possibly related problem, I have been having trouble getting the Disk Copy utility to mount disk images. Sometimes I get an error message, sometimes it fails during "checksummimg" (whatever that is) with no message at all, and sometimes it works fine.
