Software update error

I've been trying to update some software for the last couple of days but each time I tried to install the Quicktime and OSX updates they fail.

Now When I try to check for new updates I get the following erro message

Failed. Error occurred while checking

any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it?

Try trashing this file;

com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
