Software Update Segmentation Fault

No matter what i do, if i run software update from a terminal or from the preferences it just crashes out. It's only starting doing this since 10.4.8 update.

So my question is can someone help me recompile it? - how do i go about it.

I would download the 10.4.8 Combo Updater directly from Apple's site;

http://search.info.apple.com/?search=Go&lr=lang_&kword=&type=kbdload&newstype=&q=10.4.8

Run that and see if it corrects the problem.
