Solving "Software Update can't find the update server" issue

Cause: invalid preference file through interrupted update, etc.
Affects: Tiger, Leopard [possibly others]

How to resolve:

1. Navigate to: ~/Library/Preferences/
2. Remove entry: com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
3. Reboot
4. Restart Software Update
