Sometimes G5 Dual does not boot up

Instead all the fans go super nova and it sounds like it will fly off.

I have heard it before on other machnes, usually broken ones.

After a few forced shut downs it starts up fine.

Anybody have anything on this?

The fans going crazy mean one of two things. The clear plastic airflow shield has been removed, or the machine hasn't found an OS to control the fans. Boot to the installer disk and run disk utility on the drive to see if it fixes the directory structure or if it can't. At least it will either take care of your issue or at least give a starting point.

Thank you for the reply. I have been away from email and frankly I had given up on a reply.

The cooling system has not been messed with.
I will run the disk utility from the disk just to see what it finds.

Oddly enough, it has only happened twice in many start-ups since I posted the question prompting me to reach for the system disk only to find that the machine started on the next try.

I will keep you posted.
