Sony DV Camera firewire problems

i have a sony digital video camera which will not be recognized in iMovie or Final Cut Pro3, i have made sure the camera was on and set to VCR, but what is really confusing is that this worked fine when i brought in video about an hour before. Any suggestions or idea are appreciated.

Do you mean not recognised to export video? I can import from my Sony, but not export... didn't get to the bottom of that problem so I'd be interested to know the answer!!

Not all cameras have FireWire in enabled, for legal reasons I think (at least in Europe). But I have seen somewhere a dongle you can buy to reprogram your cam to enable it.
I never had to do that myself, my PC100 works both in and out with no reprogramming.
