Sony Ext. DVD Burner

I have the Sony Ext DVD+/-RW drive and was wondering if anyone knows of a way for me to use it on my iBook. I have plugged it into the iBook via the firewire connection, but it only recognized it as a CD-Rom drive. Are there any programs I can buy that will allow me to use this drive or is it impossible? I am running 10.2.3 with the dual USB iBook.

Will that work? I checked to see if there is a compatibility chart on the Roxio website, and it had my drive listed but I wasn't sure if it was for the Easy CD Creator program or for Toast. If that works I will go with that.

what about the sony DRU-500AX DVD+-R/RW Internal ?

will iDVD burn to it if i swap this for the standard cd drive in my g4 tower?

iDVD doesn't have support for that Sony DVD burner.
