Sony ICD-MS515 memory stick voice recorder

I have the Sony MS515 Memory Stick Voice Recorder, purchased when I had a PC. Through my work, I now have a Mac OS X, but I've called Sony, and they have no software for the recorder that is compatible with a Mac. Is any such software available? I use the recorder for transcribing (I'm a journalist) and doing this all on my laptop is so much easier.

 
Can you just buy a mac compatible USB flash memory reader and put the memory stick in? It should show up like a hard drive on your Mac, then you can play the sound files.
