Sound balance messed up

Whenever I plug headphones into my G4 12" powerbook the speaker balance is shifted completely to the right. The other problem is I accidentaly corrupted my sound utility (I Know I'm Retarded) so I can't change it that way. Is there a way to fix it so that the balance doesn't change or maybe be able to change it from the command line?

If you haven't done so, simply go into System Preferences and go to Sound then select the Output tab. Select the Headphones in the column on the left, and use the balance slider below.

If that doesn't work, get new headphones.
