Sound cuts out half way through each clip in Final Cut Express 1...

Anyone know what I can do? It's the actual clip, each clip does this. I've rendered them, etc, still no help. I've tried starting over, still no help. The clips work in quicktime and iMovie, just not Final Cut.

ALSO: How do I use text? I did it before, ages ago, but I can't remember now.
