Sound files in web browser...

I'm a frequent visitor of different linguistic sites where one for exemple can click on a word in order to hear it's pronouncation.

The problem is, I don't want them to open a new link so that I have to click the "back"-button about 47 times per minute.

So, can I set sound files open without opening new windows or links?

I'm using Safari most of the time.
The soundfile itself opens as demonstrated in the attachment to this message...

What browser are you using?
What opens in the new link?

There's not much you can do on the browser side. (Well, you can let the link open in a new tab instead of in that window. You can also use Cmd-LeftArrow instead of clicking the back-button.) On the HTML-side, if you were the maker of the page, you could include the sound files as objects.
