Hello-

I did a software update on my computer- and now I cannot see my dock and the sound is not working at all. (with sound when i press the key to turn up the volume, there is a no sound symbol).
I have already tried to toggle the dock and tried setting it to left and back to bottom- but nothing shows-

Model: Mac Pro - model identifier: Macpro3, 1
My version of Mac os x is 10.5.2
processor: 2x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xenon

hope you can help!

Try this:

Go to the Blue Apple icon in the upper left of the Finder menu and select "Force Quit"

If it only says "Force Quit" and you are in Finder, then select that.

Another way of re-launching Finder is to use the key combo Option + Command + Escape

This brings up a pop-up window on your Desktop. Select Finder and Click Relaunch.

Hopefully this will help cure your Dock

As for your Sound issues, have a look in System Preferences ~> Sound and check that you have the Built-In Speakers selected for Output and the Volume Sliders are set above 0.

Also check to make sure the sound is not muted. It’s in the sound prefs pane and there’s also a keyboard shortcut.
