Soundtrack is not on Store anymore. Is it dead ? Or will it revive on next Tuesday ?

GarageBand already has a large bulk of the functionality of Soundtrack, so it will probably be the only standalone product Apple offers in this category, and Soundtrack will continue shipping with Final Cut.

Frankly, I'm not surprised... would you rather pay $200 for something that pretty much only does loops, or $50 for 5 programs, including one that does loops and much more?

i actually prefer soundtrack over GarageBand! It has a cleaner and more sophisticated feel instead of having all the extra stuff stuffed at the bottom is al laid out out.

I defeintely prefer Soundtrack to GarageBand...especially when integrating with Final Cut. It just fits better.

Soundtrack is not going anywhere for now. It's too well integrated with FCP. Garage Band would have to do a lot more growing to catch up. I would sooner see Logic take over Soundtrack than GB. Neither are ready yet, however, so I think we'll see ST around for another year or two.

I agree though that there is quite a bit of technological overlap and certainly not all three of the apps (GB, ST, LG) are necessary in the end.
