Spareimage file no mountable file system

I have a spareimage file and whenever I try to open it, I get an error saying "no mountable file systems".
It's a file that when mounted, I put private files in to encrypt them. I have about ~70GB of information on there that would be devestating if lost.
Any ideas?
I tried running "Repair Disk" and "Verify Disk" but I keep getting errors saying it failed-

Please help

It would be a good idea to have a separate backup of your files if you insist on encrypting them, and this is a good reason why. Its usually not a big deal to get files off of a computer or get the machine bootable and retain all data IF the data has not been encrypted. But if you have encrypted files and something gets hosed, the data is in jeopardy. You may actually have gotten extremely lucky and have a chance here to get your data due to fact that the image just won't mount, but you will need something stronger than disk utility. Disk Warrior is usually the best tool for repairing volumes that disk utility will fail on. Its the best directory structure repair tool out there. Good luck.
