So, I have a 2.8 GHz QuadCore MacPro. It's certainly an upgrade from my old Dual 2GHz G5, but I'd really like another speed-boost, if possible. I found that adding 8GB Ram helped, while going to 12GB made it slower. I also added an internal Raid-0, which was outstanding, but I must have more speed to make my video editing with FCP go faster, including rendering operations. I DID notice that running (2) Radeon HD 2600 XT cards with 4 monitors seems to disable certain rendering options in FCP, but I need the visual real estate for my work style, so the trade-off is acceptable. I wouldn't mind knowing WHY that happened, though.
Is it possible to
A) upgrade to 2 Quad-Cores, (there's space, for sure, and a socket)
B) upgrade the video processors further?
C) Do something else?
