Speed Up Mac OS X.1 (again!)

Frantic Messenger of Hope
Here's something that worked very well for me... I keep mail open all time time, see? and I keep it checking my email every minute, see? y'know, i got a cable modem, what the hell?

i turned it off today because I realized that i have no need to downloam spam that quickly. cut it back to every hour, like any sane person.

the whole system is sooooo much snappier, by leaps and bounds.

if anybody out there has Mail set up to check every minute, turn it off!

I will vouch for that. I just set mine to check every minute today as i am looking to buy an airline ticket and want my fare watcher reports immediately in case the price drops. It has noticibly slowed things down. However it is a handy thing to do in a case like mine. I can live with the loss of speed for a day or two in order to save some big bucks (hopefully).

everyone who sets it to 1 minute is wasting bandwidth IMHO. Set it to 5 minutes. that's close enough even for the most important mails, isn't it?

but of course we all have set software update to check every minute, haven't we? :)
