Spyware?

I had never really considered spyware a threat but it seems to be a growing one, are there any apps out there that will detect and remove it.

There would need to be some spyware released for Mac before there would be anything to detect and remove. As far as I know, nobody has bothered to make any spyware in Mac software.

The usual spyware suspects are P2P apps like Kazaa. Since usually the only way to get such things on Mac is by unofficial, often open-source clients, there's not too much danger there at the moment.

What about programs such as limewire, even though there is a free version there is LimeWire Pro which notes on the features list "No Spyware" which lead me to belive there is...

LimeWire had/has some spyware on its free version for windows. The Linux and Mac versions were safe though, atleast last time I checked.

I don't think there's anything bad in the Mac version. But anyway, I'll suggest you to switch to iCab, OmniWeb or Chimera :)
