ssh help

awesomer...
I couldn't find anything with the answers I was hoping for via search, so here I am...

here's my situation, and what i'd like to achieve:
I have a powerbook at home running 10.3.[mostcurrent] on a cable broadband connection (behind a netgear wifi router).
I run on a windows (currently 2000 but will soon be upgraded to xp...) pc at my office.
I'd like to be able to use SSH to connect to my powerbook at home, while I'm at my work pc.
What logistics do I need to tackle here? what is the process (on each system) to setting this up?

thanks in advance for any help that can be provided me.

It's simple (on the Mac side) you need to configure your router to forward ssh traffic (default 22) to your PowerBook (a static IP within your home network may help). The PowerBook just needs to have Remote Login activated in the Services section of the Sharing pane of your System Preferences.

If you don't have an external static IP to your home it'll be trickier - but dyndns.org may be your friend...

As for the darkside - I think that's a sinch too but I have no idea.

thanks - already got putty, back from my pre-apple days. 1 of the few apps I still enjoy on a pc (that and htmlkit...)

it seems to be working perfectly. thanks for the input guys.

next question - how does the dyndns.org work? i wasn't too clear on it. I'll do some more reading, but if anyone has any input/experience, I'd gladly accept the input.

dyndns.org allows you to have a DNS name for your dynamic IP address. Just setup an account with them, then download a client that will change the ip address associated with your domain name automagically. They have pretty good instructions on the web site. I use dyndns.org for my stuff.
