I downloaded a copy of the game as a torrent file. Installation seems to be complete but when I attempt to open the game, nothing happens. It automatically closes itself and I return to my desktop. Help?

Erase the file. Go to the next game shop and buy a real license.

In the mean time, you could check your Mac for viruses and other malwares that you can get with torrent files.

You know if you or a friend has it for the PC you can download a legal copy from blizzards site for free.
You just need a CD key. Also you don't need the CD to play the downloaded version. This also works for
dioblo, warcraft III and other games. By the way you can download a windows or Mac version as many time as you want.

You just need a CD key.
There is but one legal way to obtain a CD key: purchase the game. Whether you purchase it online or at a brick and mortar store doesn't matter -- if you want to play Starcraft, you must buy Starcraft. There is no other way about it in the eyes of this forum.

I am in no way telling anyone to steal.
I just meant that if you can get a CD from some where, like a used copy at an game store, or a friend who does not play it or what it any more. The it doesn't need to work.
Blizzard the game manufacturer will let you download the updated version after you register your game with them. How is this illegal?
I myself found the game disk I had bought when the game came out years ago, and played on my PC and used it to download the game for my Mac.

I am in no way saying you were.

This thread started off with a post clearly about piracy of software. Your explanation of how to legitimately play it sans CD was very helpful, and you mentioned that one merely needed a CD key.

I simply elaborated on that statement to say that there was exactly one way to obtain a legitimate CD key: purchase the product.

Just because my post immediately followed yours and quoted information from your post does not mean that my response was directed solely at you. I was simply offering information so that when others read this thread from top to bottom, they have all the information available to them -- which is what a public forum is all about, especially one geared toward tech support as this one is.

If you interpreted my post to mean that I was insinuating that you were somehow condoning illegal practices, then that was a gross misinterpretation on your part.
