Start-up error message?

I noticed that when I start up using command-s to run fsck -y, my system always displays

"Couldn't alloc class "NVDANV10Hal"

This seems like some kind of error.

I am running a flat-panel iMac with 640mb ram and a firewire HD. OS 10.2.3.

Any advice? :)

I do seem to get random system freezes (spinning beach ball of death...) after waking from sleep, but I am beginning to think that this might be related to network issues. I have 3 networked machine (Windows) and they are not always on.
 
NVDANV10Hal is a driver for an NVidia graphics card. It's a kernel extension that should be in /System/Library/Extensions. It was installed as part of the 10.2.3 update. Your iMac uses the NVidia chip so that explains why this affects you.

Perhaps you don't have this file in your System/Library/Extensions folder or perhaps it has become corrupted or maybe it's privileges have become altered.

Repairing your privileges may solve the problem, but I would recommend downloading the OS X 10.2.3 combo updater and installing over your current installation.
