Strange "CarbonSound" error

I get "The application xx could not be launched because of a shared library error <application><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_CarbonSound><>" whenever I try to launch an MS Office program. I decided to uninstall Office but even the uninstaller gives the same error message.

Anyone know what to do?!?
