strange NFS problem

Regarding Mac OSX 10.2.3, newest DevTools installed, X11 installed, NFS Manager installed.

Maybe anyone here has experienced something similar and found a solution.

I do the following:
* insert a DVD into the SuperDrive
* export the DVD via NFS using the NFS Manager
* mount the exported DVD on a Linux box

Now I can access the DVD from the Linux box - so far so good. However, there is a directory on that DVD which has 2497 files in it. Trying to ls this directory just gives me 9 files! But - I can access the other files if I know their names!

To be more particular:

The DVD is the SuSE Linux 8.1 installation DVD. The directory suse/i586 has 2497 files (the rpm packages). If I ls this directory I get 9 files only.

However, I know for example that there is a file named apache-1.3.26-39.i586.rpm located in this directory, and if I try
rpm -Uhv apache-1.3.26-39.i586.rpm
the file is found and installed properly!

I use NFS Manager for convenience, it doesn't make any differencee if I do the same manually from the command line and/or in Netinfo Manager.

What goes on here? Can anybody tell? Thanks!
