Stripping Quote marks from Email forwards

Hi.
How do I strip multiple quote marks >>>from Emails that I want to forward. I was told to choose 'forward inline' and the original header and marks would be removed automatically.

That doesn't seem to work with my Mac OS X Mail.app. or Thunderbird. I still need to delete the marks line by line......Is their a free utility that will do this or am I missing something......Thanks. Dean M

tell your email app to remove the >> marks when you forward.

In Mail->Preferences->Composing, uncheck "Quote the text of the original message" and "Increase quote level".
