have an ibook G4 and i was updating my leopard system. after i installed the package the update said something about receiving cache but i waited there for 1 hour and the screen just had a background doing nothing. i grew impatient and turned the comp off. now it wont log in! theres just the grey screen with the apple and it wont go any further(this cpu was bought second handed so theres no discs it came with)! someone help please!

This ALWAYS happens when I start my iMac with a storage unit plugged into the USB (either a flashcard or my iPod). It just gets stuck on the gray screen without the apple or loader circle.
My best advice is: unplug all unessential USB devices (except your kboard and mouse) before booting up. If that fails, wait for answer #2
