Stuck in login screen

Holy moly. This sucks. Running whatever the latest is, but stuck in the login screen. It doesn't show my username, only "other". Repaired disk permissions and nothing!!! Still stuck in "other"... No usernames or passwords work. Anyone know what I can do?
 
Give us the information requested in the stickies?

Try restarting on your Installation Disk, running Disk Utility, repairing the disk?

Sounds to me like the last user has been removed. You could start from the Installation Disk, like Doctor X suggested, and check with "Reset Passwords" what accounts are listed there.
Hopefully, you have a Time Machine backup. Then you can simply reinstall Mac OS X and let the computer be restored from the Time Machine backup.
 
Thanks, y'all. Can't find my instal DVD. Booted from a backup though and repaired original hard disk. Didn't work. My backup is a month old, because I'm lazy... How the he'll did the user get removed? Makes no sense. Any other suggestions?
 
Find your install DVD
You will need it to fix this...
You may have some corrupted or missing system files. Repairing the hard drive does not do anything about missing or corrupted files. A reinstall of OS X usually will be needed, and that's when you need that reinstall DVD.

Doctor X asked for more information.
Basically - need to know the Mac model that you have, and what version of OS X that you are using.
