My Mac OS x is stuck on the blue login screen. I have tried unplugging, cmd-alt-p-r which still takes me to the login screen, held down until I heard the chime three times as suggested but went to login screen. Tried going in to safe mode by holding down shift key at start up still took me to login screen. Tried to fix with boot disc and nothing comes up. HELP!!!!

By the way I wasn't really doing anything. Was checking my emails but hadn't even clicked on one when the screen totally froze. When I powered down it came back to email page. I had to force a shutdown several times and no can't get past login screen.

Now you got it work you MUST do at least two things.

1. Get an external backup and clone Carbon Copy Cloner or use Time Machine.

2. Download the Single-User Mode program called AppleJack and run all the repair issues.

3. Then get a new Internal drive because your internal is starting to go. All hard drives will die eventually.

I am saying all this because if your internal goes south you will be stuck up a creek without a paddle and you will cry after loosing all your personal data (music, pictures, email, etc.). A backup on any platform should be done on every operating system if you value your data.
