Stupid WMP, I'm getting audio, no video....

I really hate to have to use Windoze media player.

I'm trying to view a video, but all I get is audio. I'm running 10.2.6. I also have the latest version of wmp (7.1.3) available for OSX (even tried it in 9.2). I think the problem is the video was encoded with version 9 for the pc.

Is there any other media player that will play these videos?

I haven't found one to date. If the video is encoded with WMP9..then WMP 7 for mac os just won't play it...sometimes I'll get audio, but no video, sometimes video but no audio....blah. It' essentially useless.
 
Audio works, no video for me, but it does know how big the video should be because it resizes the WMP window...

It's very annoying.
I didn't think there would be a workaround. I just thought I'd ask anyway.

didn't work with any player here (qt pro, vlc, mplayer and mediaplayer osx)...
Is it worth to turn on my windoze box?

Unless you really like hockey, it's not worth it. It's a local team interview with players.
 
I was going to recommend that... Microsoft actually released a new version of Windows Media Player for OS X!
