su and Changing Background...

Hello again ...

My user name on my Mac G4 PowerBook is "untz"... I use the bash shell...

Now, when I tried to move a directory from:

/Developer/Downloads

to

/usr/local/

by trying:

mv Downloads /user/local/

it stated"

Permission denied.

When I tried "su" and typed in my password for "untz", it responsed:

su:Sorry

I am the only user on this computer, and figured that it would give me super user / admin priveleges...

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Try sudo instead of su. Just preprend sudo to the command you're trying to execute, like "sudo mv Downloads /user/local".

Also, be careful of spelling: shouldn't that be "/usr/local" and not "/user/local"?
