Subtle iMac changes

Just noticed this on the iMac page over at apple.com:

Extend your desktop on your TV, display or projector with optional adapters

Goodbye, hacks! It looks like the iMacs finally support extended desktop mode out-of-the-box via a miniDVI connection.

What other subtle differences/improvements can we find?

Wasn't that part of the last iMac G5 already? Thought I remembered it to be a feature when it was released...

Hmmm... I don't remember! I thought that all consumer-grade computers (iMac, iBook, etc.) only did mirroring, while the pro-grade computers (PowerBook, PowerMac, etc.) did extended desktops.

Anyone with an iMac G5 here? Does it do extended desktops, or just mirrored desktops?

Edit: it appears that the iMac G5 computers could not do extended desktops:

So yeah, this apparently is a new feature on the Intel-based iMacs! Woot! :D

Hey, If you all can wait a few hours i can ask a mac genius at work.

but in the past with the iMac G5 (at least PPC Rev. A) it wasn't possible due to the firmware, but the hardware supported 2 monitors just fine

well it looks like i'm gonna get the 17" intel iMac and if i needed too add a extra monitor :)

i would seriously reccomend the 20". i don't like the screens on the 17" at all, it's like an inferiror one to the one found in the old 17" powerbook.

its not gonna be for another year, my current job company may be out of business within the year or two. So its not gonna be fun for the next semester or so especially with nobody paying for school other than me
