I don't know if this has already been posted, but if you don't like the scale or genie effect for minimizing windows go to the terminal and type
defaults write com.apple.Dock mineffect suck
it is similiar to genie but it is cool none the less.
 
Or you can use Tinkertool to have a control panel that allows you to set the "suck in" effect, on top of other features.

I remember, in the 5F7 build of 10.1, that the "suck" effect was available through the System Preferences. It was named "Suck In (needs a better name)" I think, so I guess they never found a better name for it :p
 
If you want to turn pinning off. just go to the divide bar on the dock and and control click it and there will be an option pin. Choose the one that you want. Unless you like using the command line. I am currently working on learning to use the command line. But this is much easier.
 
Go to the divide bar on the dock the bar between the trash and your application icons. control click that bar and there will be an option that says pin. You can choose from there. I have os 10.1 so if it is before that I would imagine that you type the same thing in the terminal that you typed to turn pinning on but instead of where you have it type where you want it with start center of end.
 
I think you have to use a hack, but it appears to be built into the system, and only configurable when you enable it with a hack (or terminal command).

Test user I am not using a hack. I have 10.1.4 on all of my machines. I have not downloaded any materials. The screen shot the guy used before is what mine looks like.

I took testusers advice, and ive got my dock pined to the right, but i haven got the Pin menu.

I got Trasparent dock from www.versontracker.com and it alowed me to get the menu and a Quit menu, Is there away of ding this in X, eithe though the termainal or other ways??
