Sum1 Please Help!

I was on MAC OS X and was bout 2 play this game....
it told me 2 put my display settings on the highest possible setting....
my dum ass 4got that when i do that it throws my monitor
OUT OF SCAN RANGE
i had 2 boot up from the 9 CD juss 2 switch the startup disk bak 2 9
so i could see the screen....now i cant figure out how 2 clear the preference change n MAC OS 9......im stuk in CLASSIC LAND until i can get this figured out....and i have sum stuff i can only do in X & need 2 get bak 2 it baaaaaad
help would be much appreciated.....even if u can juss tell me how
MAC OS X stores its preferences.....this is really startin 2 piss me off

you were asking where mac os x stored all of its preferences , well if you go into you user in 9 there should be a folder on you harddrive that says users go into there find your user and go into library and find the preference folder and look in there for the pref that messed it up
if it dosnt work come back here and post the problem and i will think of another way

...i already did that.....
i couldnt figure out which 1 was 4 the monitor........
the 1 that was obvious
( the only 1 that had "monitor" in the name)
didnt work when i threw it away & restarted

i ended up reinstallin X juss 2 get it over with....

and now.....
i cant throw away my old applications folder...
cuz it says its owned by ROOT!
(i know how 2 enable ROOT USER........
and log on....would i have 2 do that 2 throw it away?)
