Hi on my g4 desktop the superdrive won't register any cd's or dvd's. I thought it might be broken but when i tried to confirm by installing new firmware in 9.2.2 it said the drive is locked. Can you help me or do i have to buy a new superdrive?
Does the drive spit the disks out? Does the drive "eat" the disks? Are you running OS 9 or what version of OS X? If the drive doesn't read in OS 9 or OS X, yes the drive is toast.
Drives are really inexpensive and if you are in North America then take a look at the drives at OWC.
