I have os x and os 9.1 installed. to switch from os x to os 9.1, i usually just go to control panel: startup disk and choose the os 9 disk. but now i'm somehow stuck in 9.1. in the startup disk window i have only the choice between "hard disk" and "network disk". choosing "hard disk" and restarting leaves me in 9.1 how can i get back into os x?? any help would be much appreciated.

What kind of machine are we talking about ? When we're talking about a machine supporting dual USB or dual Boot, just restart you're mac and hold the option key (alt) and just choose.
There's also the option to download SystemDisk on asu.info.apple.com, but it didn'twork for me
