Sync "From" to Address Book in Mail?

The "From" in the list view of messages isn't synced to what's in my Address Book. But when I view the actual message, the "From:" IS synced.

For instance I might have messages listed like:

Smith, John F. December 20, 2005 Dog kennel
Doe, Jane G. December 19, 2005 Cat food

Then If I view the "Dog kennel" message it'd show it like:

From: John Smith
Date: Decembe 20, 2005
Subject: Dog Kennel

"John Smith" is what I have in the address book.

So is there anyway to get the "Smith, John F." to show up like my address book?

Hmm, I've wondered that too. It seems like in the window display Mail tends to defer to the sender's stated From: information, whereas when you open a window it tries to sync to your Address Book if the sender has an entry there.

I don't know of any option to change this behavior, though.

You could also try removing remembered email addresses as described here:

I'm not sure whether that'll change the behavior you're describing.
