Syncing a Blackberry and os x?

Did a search but many of the responses are quite old, does anybody have any experience syncing a Blackberry and os x? I'm thinking of getting one for calender and messaging functions but don't want headaches trying to get it to work. Would a Blackberry support an ordinary pop mail account? Can it sync between a laptop and a desktop? In Ireland the only models available are the 7130v http://www.blackberry.com/uk/products/blackberry7100/blackberry7130v.shtml and the 7100X http://www.blackberry.net/uk/products/blackberry7100/blackberry7100x.shtml. Any experience and info appreciated.

PocketMac (free) lets you sync with a MAC. Blackberry's do support POP accounts if your service provider has BIS (ask them). I have been using a Blackberry (and a Treo for 2 years before that) for about 9 months and have been more than pleased with it. I currently have a 8100 (Pearl) and used to use an 8700.
