system-wide color problem

Opening mail, click on 'show colors' - mail quits
Opening preview, click on 'adjust colours' preview quits
Opening text edit click on 'show colours' textedit quits

Anyone got a clue what I can do to find out what's going on?

Have you tried the usual troubleshooting procedures?

  • Repair permissions on your hard drive with Disk Utility.
  • Start in Single User Mode or boot from the installation discs and run a disk repair (/sbin/fsck -yf in SUM, Disk Utility from booted installation discs).
 
I've tried disk utility repair from booted installation disk but it doesn't seem to have cured the problem

will try SUM version now
