Sytstem Preference icon not working

Hi, my name is Jamie and I work on a Mac. Something happened to my "System Preference" icon in my dock. I bumped my mouse and it jumped to the desktop and now has a circle/line thru it. I can't get my apps. I tied to open Excel and it pops a ? on top of it's icon...HELP???

Navigate to your Apps folder or click Command + A in Finder to open your Apps folder. Scroll down to System Preferences and launch it. The System Prefs icon will bounce in your Dock. Click it's icon and go to "Options ~> Keep In Dock".

Do the same with Excel. It should be in your Microsoft Office folder in the Apps folder AFAIK.
