Terminal and Canon scanner

Am trying to change my MAC address in Terminal. What is the password secret. All I get is sorry. I have tried enabling Root user in Directory Utility and changing the password.

Also, does anybody know how to get my bloody Canon Lide 30 scanner to work?
I have tried ScanGear CS 7.0X 21-08-45. I open Photoshop CS3 in Rosetta but it doesn't recognize the file.
I have tried CanoScanToolbox4110X.3 and CanoScan Toolbox 5.0 with no luck. They do not see the device.

What UNIX command are you using to accomplish this?

The "password" should be your root/administrator password. The password will not show as you type it for security reasons (in case someone's looking over your shoulder). It won't even put asterisks or anything... just trust the Terminal -- your password is being received, it's just not showing.
