I cannot open the terminal. it appears for a fraction of a second and does not want to open. any thoughts?
 
Open /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and find the file com.apple.Terminal.plist and put that file into your Trash can. Then restart Terminal to see if that helps.
 
tried to put the terminal....plist in the trash can. i did not delete it totally.( not emptied the can). does not work. any thoughts?
 
Which update of Mac OS X? (10.x.x?)
Are you using an administrator account?
Is that a local or AD bound account?
Did Terminal work successfully on this account before?
Does it work using another account on that same Mac?
What shows in Console (/Applications/Utilities) for the error when you launch Terminal?
